Judgments for Six Jia Days with Jia-Zi Hour

六甲日甲子時斷

六甲日生甲子時,敗中印綬官生至;月通木氣不尋常,反此而言虛名利。

Six Jia days born at Jia-Zi hour: / In the 'bath' position, seal and official star generate and arrive. / When the month connects to wood breath, this is extraordinary; / Otherwise, only empty fame and profit. Jia day with Jia-Zi hour: although Jia is in its 'bath' position at Zi, there is a hidden Gui-Water generating breath as seal, combined with an official star generating that seal. If Ji-Earth breaks the seal, but the month breath connects to wood energy, nobility follows. Otherwise, the flower is beautiful but bears no fruit. Jia-Zi day with Jia-Zi hour: this forms the 'Zi Reaching Si's Salary' format. If the year and month contain no Geng, Xin, Shen, You, Chou binding, or Wu clashing, the person is self-made, separating from ancestral home, and becomes noble. If year and month are both Yin, encountering Shen-You cycles brings great wealth followed by loss. Jia-Yin day with Jia-Zi hour: arching the Xin hidden in Chou, noble. If year and month lack Geng, Xin, Shen, You, Chou, or Wei, great nobility. With Jia-Yin month additionally, isolation and harshness -- only suitable for monasticism. [The chapter continues systematically through all possible day-hour combinations for Jia days (12 hours x 6 day-variants), then Yi days (12 hours x 6 variants), Bing days, Ding days, and Wu days, providing specific fortune readings for each combination conditioned on various year-month scenarios.]

Volumes 8 and 9 together form the most extensive day-hour combination reference in classical Bazi literature. Each entry gives a verse summary, a technical explanation of the day-hour relationship, and then variant readings for each of the six possible day-Branch combinations (e.g., Jia-Zi, Jia-Yin, Jia-Chen, Jia-Wu, Jia-Shen, Jia-Xu) paired with that hour, further modified by possible year and month conditions. This section was designed as a practical lookup reference for practitioners performing readings.

[Each of the twelve possible hours for Jia days receives its own analysis section:] Jia with Yi-Chou hour: Robbery-of-wealth and Sheep Blade are inauspicious; if the chart forms a fire combination, the metal spirit is controlled, bringing noble virtue and enduring position. Jia with Bing-Yin hour: The food spirit is at its long-life position; wood generates fire in sequence. Good for scholarly achievement. Jia with Ding-Mao hour: Injury-official format; if the month has metal to control Ding, conversion to nobility is possible. Jia with Wu-Chen hour: Wealth star in the earth storehouse; late-blooming fortune. Jia with Ji-Si hour: Proper wealth and proper official both present; one of the more favorable combinations. Jia with Geng-Wu hour: Partial official (Seven Killer) with wealth generating it; requires fire to control. Jia with Xin-Wei hour: Proper official in the earth storehouse; scholarly temperament. Jia with Ren-Shen hour: Partial seal at its long-life position; intellectual gifts. Jia with Gui-You hour: Proper seal meeting proper official; highly auspicious for official career. Jia with Jia-Xu hour: Arching the Hai position (Jia's long-life); meeting the Celestial Gate. Jia with Yi-Hai hour: Robbery of wealth at the long-life position; wealth is competed for but the self is strong.

Hour Judgments for Yi, Bing, Ding, and Wu Days

六乙至六戊日各時斷

六乙日丙子時斷至六戊日癸亥時斷

[The remainder of Volume 8 covers the day-hour combinations for stems Yi through Wu, following the same structure:] Six Yi Days (12 hours x 6 combinations = 72 entries): Yi's key relationships -- Geng as proper official, Wu as proper wealth, Ding as food spirit. Each hour-pairing analyzed for how it affects these key relationships. Six Bing Days (12 hours x 6 = 72 entries): Bing's key relationships -- Gui as proper official, Geng as proper wealth, Wu as food spirit. The fire day-master's interactions with water (official/authority), metal (wealth), and earth (expression). Six Ding Days (12 hours x 6 = 72 entries): Ding as yin fire -- Ren as proper official, Geng as proper wealth, Ji as food spirit. Six Wu Days (12 hours x 6 = 72 entries): Wu as yang earth -- Yi as proper official, Ren as proper wealth, Geng as food spirit. [Total entries in Volume 8: approximately 360 individual day-hour combination readings, each with conditional variants based on year and month.]

The sheer scale of Volumes 8-9 (covering all 720 possible day-hour stem combinations) reflects the Sanming Tonghui's ambition to be a complete reference work. Each entry was meant to be consulted after establishing the day and hour pillars, with the year and month conditions then narrowing the reading further. This combinatorial approach distinguishes the Sanming Tonghui from earlier Bazi texts that relied more on general principles and less on specific lookup tables.
