群興論
《群興論》 《當興》夫人生有秉富貴之榮,而當興富貴,而且能享福,而保其終身。其何故也?蓋四柱中身主專旺;而其所用吉神,或為財、或為官、或為印綬、或為食神,俱各帶祿權得令,不偏不雜;又無刑沖傷損克害,方為富貴本源之不雜也。他日能成才,振耀前人之基業,成當代之功名;不招讒謗,不致傷害。又在運上步步皆吉,四柱益加吉利,是謂源清流潔;故能享福以過人,保其中而無悔也。皆由命運一路滔滔,生旺而然。非幸也,乃命也,可不辯乎! 《崛起》夫人之生,又有窮餓其身,愁苦孤寒顛倒;無何一旦逢時,興然而起。或當營財滿意,白手莊田;或致君澤民,獨步台鼎。斯人也,前後異見,其故何如?蓋因柱中日主生氣未旺,所用貴神,悉皆得位而成旺,又且合格;奈何日主無力,不能勝任其福,亦勞困偃蹇。忽逢運扶,其日幹得其強健,用神出虎嘯風生;元命用神,方為我用,我得乘之,則勃然而興。是偏氣乘和,衰以遇旺,故迎吉而能崛起。 若夫建業創功,有大小之不同;當於所遭命之輕重,辯之可也。 《聚興》又有日主強,則四柱五行,殺純不雜,身殺俱旺;則根本元無制伏,富貴不成,惟待運來制伏,殺神則化為權,方能崛興,才德動公卿,功名顯達,出類超群。是其身旺,殺神逢制化為權也;制神力旺,發福非常,安得其人不顯達,以致極品之尊貴乎,實有其命。又要行其運以扶,方見勃興也;如茍運不至,即常人耳。 又要四柱中,日主健旺,用神亦旺,各相停均,為富屋朱門,貴命之賢子也。及其長大,成立豐隆,一逢惡曜運,加臨元命,見其財而奪之,因其官而傷之,臨其印而壞之,逢其食而損之;遭逢此運,禍不勝言,所以中年見傾而不發。如其惡運一去,又逢好運扶身,使我用神一新,譬如枯苗得雨,勃然而興,鴻毛遇風,飄然而舉,不可御也。 《中興》又有人生五行身旺,陽刃比肩,俱各爭旺,惟有財官格神等物,虛浮輕少,無力成功名矣;出門行運,又非作福之地,所以一生饑寒,勞苦落剝,有志無成。或至中年晚景,頓逢殺運,假殺為權,制伏陽刃;或得權貴以顯揚、或招資財而發福,當隨五行清濁,以遇其運而別之。 《末興》是一生窮困,忽然興起於中年晚景也;故知此命元用財官,平生無氣,即至運到,方成富貴,一一興利。故末興者,乃得運而然也。學者可不勉乎! 《論興亡》 夫人生柱中有純殺為用也,殺神無制,則為白屋窮途之人、或一豪門營幹之士;故要逢制殺運,假殺而起,進用朝廷,操權威福,功不可量。制伏運一入財鄉,則能黨殺,便興禍患,如此官旺殺旺,運元恐失計。所以命黨殺運,倘來生凶,偶然遇流年財殺少旺,殺神相黨,併合興殃;身主孤寒克害,輕則傾家徒配,重則刑棄其身,故其殺神併合,凶亡之可畏也。有如此殺刃者,一一難免禍患焉。 又有柱中月令,正氣官星,為一生貴氣,惟逢印運則利,蓋官星喜逢財旺以生之,印旺以護之;故令其人能行仁布德、緯國經邦、權重爵高,所以貴也。後遇殺神旺鄉,殺神祿位,歲殺並臨,官化為鬼,喪身必矣。不行殺運、或逢傷官運,又無印綬制之,傷官得地,祿遭傷損,喪妻克子,剝職生災,立可見矣;更遇流年,儻他損官受克,必致亡為慘惡。故欲官祿逢傷,而免剝戮者,不其難之乎?如有高見明識,知進退存亡之機,而保其身者;官祿逢傷,六親免禍,亦當自己受惡疾而終者矣! 又有四柱中所專用神,無官殺氣,惟偏財正財當旺而已;財神當道,隱隱興隆,積財聚寶,但少貴矣!欲知且看行運如何?若財逢官祿旺之鄉,又成富貴之局。設有不幸,財神脫局,陽刃相逢,財傾福敗,多患其凶;及流年沖合陽刃,財神盡傷,元命衰絕,陽刃生凶,敗亡極矣! 《寶法》第一 夫,稟陰陽而生天地間,故造化之賦於人也,稟造化而生;物亦如之,莫不由陰陽變化。是故,推人吉凶休咎,斯理昭著;然術家之法固多,究征索子平之外未有矣! 子平一法,專以日乾為主,而取提綱所藏之物為令;次及年月時支以表其端。 凡格用月令提綱,勿於傍求年日時為格;今人多不知其法,於此百法百失。 譬如月令,以金木水火土為要,但有一事而定言之,若於傍求,則有失誤;取其月令實事,則以遍求輕重淺深格局破沖可也。 西山易鑒先生得其變通,將乾格分為六格為重:"曰官、曰印、曰財、曰殺、曰食神、曰傷官",而訊息之,無不驗矣!其法曰:"逢官看財,逢殺看印,逢印看官",斯有奧妙不傳之法。取四者不偏不倚、生克制化,而遇破體囚為下運;有生有去為福,有助有剝為禍。其理深長,最宜消詳切當;不昧庸術,宜熟讀幸加勉焉。 《寶法》第二 子平之法,以日為主;先看提綱為重,次用年日時支,合成格局,方可斷之;皆以月令為用,不可以年取格。凡看子平之數,取格不定,十有九差。 惟易鑒先生之法,月令用金只用金,用火只用火;八字水多卻取水,不來取火,況此差矣!以法斷之,誤其大半。是西山易鑒參透玄機,十八格內取六格為重,用相生,定格合局;仍用年日下,以推輕重淺深,萬無一失。 六格法曰:"逢官看財","逢財看殺","逢殺看印","逢印看官"。如用印不怕殺;是殺拘印,印拘身,還作上格取之。如四柱逢印看七殺;但有官殺在,運行官殺鄉,亦作貴格。 月令通官,柱中遇財,財生官妙矣!乃富貴之格。 柱中見財,要人財旺,至興發福矣! 但見一殺,則以殺為重,不可又行財旺之鄉;乃財生殺旺,當作貧賤之格。 凡格當以殺官言之。
'On Timely Flourishing' -- A person born with the radiance of wealth and nobility, who rightly flourishes in fortune and is able to enjoy blessings while preserving them for life: what accounts for this? The Four Pillars' Day Master is focused and strong, and the auspicious spirits employed -- whether Wealth, Officer, Seal, or Food God -- each carry Salary and authority, obtaining the command, neither biased nor mixed, with no Punishment, Clash, injury, overcoming, or harm. This is the uncontaminated source of wealth and nobility. Such a person will later become a person of talent, glorifying the ancestors' foundation and achieving fame in the present generation, neither inviting slander nor causing harm. Moreover, step by step in the Luck Cycles, all is auspicious, and the Four Pillars are further enhanced. This is called 'source clear, stream pure.' Thus one can enjoy blessings surpassing others and preserve the outcome without regret. All because chart and luck flow smoothly in generation and strength. This is not luck -- it is destiny. Should one not discern this? 'On Sudden Rise' -- Then there are those born into hunger and hardship, sorrow and cold destitution, who suddenly encounter their time and rise vigorously. Some amass wealth to satisfaction, building estates from nothing. Others serve the ruler and benefit the people, ascending alone to the highest councils. Such people seem entirely different before and after. What accounts for this? The Day Master's life-qi is not yet strong, but the noble spirits employed are all properly positioned and in phase, and the pattern is well-formed. Yet the Day Master lacks strength and cannot bear the fortune, so one toils and struggles. Then suddenly a supporting period arrives, the Day Stem gains health and vigor, and the Useful Spirit emerges like a tiger's roar with rising wind. The original chart's Useful Spirit finally serves me, and I ride upon it -- rising vigorously. This is biased qi encountering harmony, decline meeting strength. Fortune arrives and one rises suddenly. As for building enterprises and establishing merit, there are great and small differences. One must discern by the weight of the chart encountered. 'On Collective Rise' -- Then there are cases where the Day Master is strong, the Four Pillars' Five Phases show pure Killing without mixture, and both Self and Killing are strong. The root originally has no control, so wealth and nobility do not form. Only when the Luck Cycle brings control does the Killing spirit transform into authority, enabling sudden flourishing -- talent and virtue moving dukes and ministers, fame and advancement prominent, surpassing the common herd. The Self is strong, and the Killing spirit meeting control transforms into authority. When the controlling spirit's force is strong, fortune is extraordinary. How can such a person not become prominent, reaching the highest nobility? It is truly destined. Yet one also needs the Luck Cycle's support before vigorous flourishing is manifest. If the Luck Cycle does not arrive, one remains an ordinary person. There are also cases where the Four Pillars have a healthy, strong Day Master, and the Useful Spirit is also strong, evenly balanced -- born into a wealthy household of vermilion gates, a worthy child of noble destiny. Upon growing up, established and prospering. Then one malefic period arrives, adding to the original chart, seizing one's Wealth, injuring one's Officer, ruining one's Seal, damaging one's Food. Encountering such a period, disaster is beyond words -- mid-life decline without recovery. When the bad period passes and a good period supporting the Self arrives, refreshing the Useful Spirit, it is like withered seedlings receiving rain, rising vigorously; like a goose feather meeting wind, lifting and soaring -- unstoppable. 'On Mid-life Revival' -- Then there are those born with strong Five Phases Self, with Yang Blade and Shoulder each competing for dominance, while Wealth, Officer, and pattern spirits are scant and floating, without strength for achievement. Entering the Luck Cycles, the territory is not one of fortune-building, so a lifetime of hunger, cold, toil, and hardship passes without success. But at mid-life or twilight years, one suddenly encounters a Killing period, borrowing the Killing as authority to control the Yang Blade. Whether gaining authority and nobility for prominence, or attracting assets for fortune -- one must distinguish by the Five Phases' clarity and turbidity and the Luck Cycle encountered. 'On Late Blooming' -- This is a lifetime of poverty suddenly rising in mid-life or twilight years. It means the chart's original Wealth-Officer had no qi throughout life, and only when the Luck Cycle arrives does wealth and nobility form, with each venture profitable. Late Blooming is the result of the Luck Cycle. Should the student not strive? 'On Rise and Fall' -- When a person's chart has pure Killing as the Useful Spirit, and the Killing has no control, this is a person of the thatched-roof cottage on a dead-end road, or a retainer striving within a powerful household. Therefore one needs a period of controlling the Killing; borrowing the Killing for authority, one rises, serving at court, wielding authority over fortune and disaster, with merit beyond measure. But the moment the controlling period enters the Wealth region, Wealth supports the Killing, and disaster arises. With Officer strong and Killing strong, and the original Luck Cycle potentially miscalculated -- if the chart supports the Killing period, and then misfortune arrives with the annual Wealth-Killing slightly strong, Killing spirits supporting each other and jointly producing calamity -- the Self is left in cold isolation, harmed. Lightly, one loses the family estate and is exiled; heavily, punishment and execution. The Killing spirit jointly combining in lethal ruin -- this is fearsome indeed. Then there are charts where the Monthly Command is the proper-qi Officer star, serving as lifetime noble qi. Only encountering a Seal period is favorable, since the Officer star welcomes strong Wealth to generate it and strong Seal to protect it. Thus such a person can practice benevolence and spread virtue, governing the state, with heavy authority and high rank. But later encountering the Killing's strong region, with the Killing's Salary position and the annual Killing arriving together, the Officer transforms into Ghost, and death of the body is certain. If not entering a Killing period, perhaps encountering a Hurting Officer period without Seal to control it, the Hurting Officer gaining ground, Salary suffers damage -- losing a wife, harming children, stripped of office and beset by disaster. Then there are charts where the Four Pillars' Useful Spirit has no Officer-Killing qi, only Indirect and Direct Wealth at their peak. The Wealth spirit commands the road, with quiet and steady prosperity, accumulating riches -- but lacking nobility. One must observe the Luck Cycle: if Wealth encounters the Officer-Salary-strong region, wealth and nobility form together. But if unfortunately the Wealth spirit falls out of the pattern and the Yang Blade is encountered, Wealth collapses and fortune is ruined, with much misfortune. When the annual luck Clashes and Combines with the Yang Blade, the Wealth spirit is completely harmed, the original chart Declines and Extincts, the Yang Blade generates violence -- ruin reaches its extreme. 'Precious Method, Part One' -- Receiving yin and yang to be born between Heaven and Earth, creation endows a person, born from creation's design. All things are likewise -- none escape the transformations of yin and yang. Therefore, to deduce a person's fortune, misfortune, rest, and calamity, this principle is clearly manifest. Though the methods of practitioners are many, the investigation of evidence beyond Ziping's method is unmatched. Ziping's method focuses exclusively on the Day Stem as master, taking what is stored in the Guiding Framework (Monthly Command) as the decree, and next using the Year, Month, and Hour Branches to express its aspects. For any pattern, use the Monthly Command as the Guiding Framework. Do not seek the pattern from the Year, Day, or Hour alongside it. Many people today do not know this method, and fail one hundred out of one hundred times. For the Monthly Command, Metal, Wood, Water, Fire, and Earth are essential. Having one matter settles the determination. If one seeks alongside it, errors occur. Take the Monthly Command's actual matter, then comprehensively seek the light-heavy, shallow-deep pattern and its destructions and clashes. Master Yijian of Western Mountain grasped the adaptive variation and divided the Stem patterns into six essential patterns: 'Officer, Seal, Wealth, Killing, Food God, and Hurting Officer,' examining their dynamics -- without fail in verification. His method states: 'When encountering the Officer, examine Wealth; when encountering the Killing, examine the Seal; when encountering the Seal, examine the Officer.' There is a profound and untransmitted method here. Taking the four elements -- neither biased nor askew, in generation, overcoming, control, and transformation -- one finds that encountering destructive, imprisoned patterns makes a lower fortune; having generation and removal brings fortune; having support and stripping brings disaster. The principle runs deep and far -- one must examine it in thorough detail. 'Precious Method, Part Two' -- Ziping's method takes the Day as master. First examine the Guiding Framework as primary; next use Year, Day, and Hour Branches to assemble the pattern, and only then may one render judgment. All use the Monthly Command as the function; one cannot take the pattern from the Year. When examining Ziping's methods, if the pattern is not settled, nine out of ten will err. Only Master Yijian's method: Monthly Command using Metal, use only Metal; using Fire, use only Fire. If the eight characters have much Water, take Water -- do not go take Fire; otherwise this error compounds. Judging by this method, more than half will be wrong. Master Yijian of Western Mountain penetrated the profound mechanism: within the eighteen patterns, he selected six as essential, using mutual generation to settle the pattern and complete the structure; still using the Year and Day below to deduce light-heavy and shallow-deep, with not one error in ten thousand. The six-pattern method states: 'Encountering Officer, examine Wealth.' 'Encountering Wealth, examine Killing.' 'Encountering Killing, examine Seal.' 'Encountering Seal, examine Officer.' For example, using the Seal does not fear the Killing -- the Killing restrains the Seal, the Seal restrains the Self, and this still constitutes an upper pattern. If the Four Pillars encounter the Seal and one examines the Seven Killings -- as long as Officer-Killing is present and the Luck Cycle travels to the Officer-Killing region, this also constitutes a noble pattern. Monthly Command connecting to the Officer, with Wealth in the pillars: Wealth generating Officer is superb -- a pattern of wealth and nobility. Wealth visible in the pillars requires the person and Wealth both strong -- then fortune manifests. But seeing even one Killing: the Killing takes precedence, and one must not enter the Wealth-strong region, for Wealth generating strong Killing becomes a pattern of poverty and baseness. In all patterns, discuss them in terms of Killing and Officer.

《寸金搜髓論》印淨禪師 造化先須看日主,後把提綱看次第。 四柱專論其財官,身旺財官多富貴。 若還身旺財官損,只是朝求暮討兒。 財官旺時日主強,紫袍金帶有何疑。 財官旺而日主弱,運行身旺最為奇。 日主旺而財官弱,運入財官名利馳。 日主坐下有財官,月令相逢貴不難。 富貴財官為總論,早年富貴祿高攀。 身旺無依更遷祖,不遷居死在外地。 身旺無倚,損財傷妻、或是外家冷落、或過房入舍。 身旺印旺,破財不聚;有財只好善破、或置物創屋、或門大而倉廩虛,內不足而外有餘。 官喜露,露則清高。 財要藏,藏則豐厚。 殺藏官露,惡隱善揚;人生遇此,名振鄉邦。 官殺太重身更強,一逢制伏作賢良。 殺官拱印貴非輕,烜赫威揚定振名。 身居九夏火土多,相逢水濟貴中和;水火元來要既濟,管教名利振山河。 生居三冬,水冷金寒;得火相扶,莫作等閒。 火勢炎炎如無水,運行水鄉亦是美。 水勢滔滔若無火,運入火鄉亦為奇。 南方火炎,利入北方水運。 北方水寒,利入南方火運。 東方木多,宜入西方金運。 西方金旺,宜入東方木運。 水火有既濟之功。 金木有成名之論。 五行得其相濟,威名榮振九天。 三丘五行,辰戌醜未;若是重見,骨肉刑悲、父母不足、兄弟異離、親戚情疏,更虧妻子。 衝破提綱,多虧父母,或是刑、或是離異。 身旺比肩坐驛馬,兄弟飄蓬好瀟灑。 八字四馬總交馳,身榮勞碌任東西;倘有身閒心不定,動則風流靜則悲。 財星入庫主聚財。 財星入庫妻慳吝,謹守資財不做人。 若是財星坐四馬,妻賢無處不欣欣。 官殺重重不帶財,妻能內助不和諧;公姑不敬妻無禮,奪卻夫權命所排。 官星若也逢生旺,更得長生旺在時;子息聰明多俊秀,兒孫個個著緋衣。 比劫傷官旺,傷妻更損兒;養子多不肖,乞養總非宜。 日主七殺帶梟神,妻主虛胎小產多,血氣不調成血疾;更看行運又何如。 男子梟食重重見,身弱多因癆病隨。 女人梟食非為吉,產難驚人病亦危。 女人官旺兼財旺,招得賢夫更好兒;若是財官俱受損,傷夫克子守空帷。 印綬旺身身更旺,為人刑克主孤貧;若得官顯財又顯,亦為超群拔萃人。 惹是招非,只緣水火相剋,或是目昏眼暗。 女命若也傷官旺,坐下傷官會罵夫;朝暮喃喃口不絕,百年終見帶刑孤。 日如乙巳、戊辰、庚午、辛未,日乾帶之,權貴之妻也;更主賢妻亦主貴,更看四柱又何如。 又如丙子、丁丑、戊寅、己卯,生人遇此,皆因前道。 辛巳、壬午、甲申、乙酉,俱是坐下財官,逢之富貴不少。 丁亥戊子並庚寅,日主逢之命不輕。 辛卯丙申丁酉位,財官內隱顯聲名。 己亥甲申見庚戌,印綬財官內里藏;更得丙辰壬戌至,四時符印不非常。 甲子丙寅與丁卯、己巳壬辰癸巳同,虛名虛利任飄蓬。 乙亥庚申並己巳,生下財官並無有;妻宮子女帶虛花,東西南北是身家。 甲午戊戌並庚子,女克丈夫男克子。 乙巳丙午丁未同,重重壬子主孤窮。 甲寅乙卯與戊午,支幹同類子不足。 己未庚申及癸亥,月令更旺成禍害。 月主財官印綬全,月時符合福綿綿。 乾支同類並身旺,克子刑妻破祖田。 好將四柱分強弱,莫犯陰陽執一言;此是五行真妙訣,不逢智者莫虛傳。
By Chan Master Yinjing: Verse: 'Creation and transformation: first examine the Day Master; / Then take the Guiding Framework and look at the sequence. / The Four Pillars focus on Wealth and Officer; / Self strong with Wealth and Officer: much wealth and nobility. / If the Self is strong but Wealth-Officer damaged, / One merely begs from morning to evening. / Wealth-Officer strong and the Day Master also strong: / Purple robe and golden belt -- what doubt is there? / Wealth-Officer strong but Day Master weak: / Entering a strong-Self period is most marvelous. / Day Master strong but Wealth-Officer weak: / Entering Wealth-Officer periods, fame and profit gallop. / Day Master sitting below on Wealth-Officer / Meeting the Monthly Command -- nobility is not hard. / Wealth and nobility through Wealth-Officer is the general theory; / Early-years wealth and nobility, climbing high salary. / Self strong without support, one changes ancestral home; / If not moving, one dies in a foreign land. / Self strong without support: damaging Wealth, harming wife; / Either the wife's family is cold and neglected, or one is adopted into another household. / Self strong, Seal strong: Wealth breaks and does not accumulate; / Having Wealth is only good for charitable dispersal, or buying property and building houses; / The gate is grand but the granary is empty -- inside insufficient, outside having surplus. / The Officer should be exposed: exposed means pure and lofty. / Wealth should be hidden: hidden means rich and substantial. / Killing hidden, Officer exposed: evil concealed, good displayed; / A person encountering this -- fame resounding through the land. / Officer-Killing too heavy, Self even stronger: / Upon meeting control, one becomes a worthy and good person. / Killing and Officer embracing the Seal: nobility is not slight; / Brilliant authority and prestige surely resound in fame.' 'Born in the height of summer with much Fire and Earth: / Meeting Water's aid, the noble Mean is achieved; / Water and Fire originally require mutual completion; / Assuredly fame and profit shake mountains and rivers. / Born in deep winter: Water cold, Metal frozen; / Gaining Fire's support must not be taken lightly. / Fire's momentum blazing without Water: / Entering the Water region in luck is also fine. / Water's momentum surging without Fire: / Entering the Fire region in luck is also marvelous. / Southern Fire blazing: favorable entering northern Water periods. / Northern Water frigid: favorable entering southern Fire periods. / Eastern Wood abundant: should enter western Metal periods. / Western Metal strong: should enter eastern Wood periods. / Water and Fire have the merit of mutual completion. / Metal and Wood have the theory of achieving fame. / Five Phases achieving mutual aid: / Majestic fame gloriously resounding to the ninth heaven.' 'The Three Mounds of Five Phases: Chen, Xu, Chou, Wei; / If seen repeatedly: kin suffer Punishment-grief, parents are insufficient, / Siblings separate, relatives grow distant, and wife and children suffer more. / Clashing the Guiding Framework: parents suffer loss, / Whether through Punishment, or through separation and estrangement. / Self strong with Shoulder sitting on the Post Horse: / Siblings drift like tumbleweed, free and easy. / Eight characters with four Horses all racing: / The Self prospers but toils, accepting east and west; / If the body is at leisure, the mind is not at rest: / In motion, dissolute; at rest, melancholy.' 'Wealth star entering the Treasury: accumulating wealth. / Wealth star in the Treasury: the wife is tight-fisted, / Guarding assets and not acting as a proper person. / But if the Wealth star sits on the four Horses: / The wife is virtuous, joy everywhere. / Officer-Killing layered without Wealth: / The wife assists within but without harmony; / Disrespectful to parents-in-law, the wife is rude, / Seizing the husband's authority -- arranged by destiny.' Verse: 'The Heart's Mirror reflects what the eye cannot see -- / Buried deep within the Stems and Branches, truth resides. / When Self is strong and Killing weak, authority is borrowed; / When Killing is strong and Self is weak, one's life hangs by a thread. / The wise practitioner sees beyond the surface form / And reads the spirit-mechanism turning within the pattern.'

The Rhapsody of Continuous Threads traces the interconnections between the Four Pillars as continuous threads of qi flowing from Year to Month to Day to Hour. When these threads form an unbroken generative chain, fortune is sustained. When the chain is interrupted by overcoming or clash, the thread breaks and fortune dissipates. The practitioner must trace each thread from root to fruit to understand the chart's overall trajectory.
