疏 Kong Yingda's Subcommentary
正義曰：「此需卦繇辭也。需者，待也。物初蒙稚，待養而成，无信即不立，所待唯信也，故云「需有孚」，言需之為體，唯有信也。「光亨貞吉」者，若能有信，即需道光明，物得亨通，于正則吉，故云「光亨貞吉」也。「利涉大川」者，以剛健而進，即不患於險，乾德乃亨，故云利涉大川。
Translation
The Correct Meaning states: "This is the hexagram statement of the Xu hexagram. ' When things are first emerging in youthful ignorance, they must wait for nourishment to mature. Without sincerity one cannot be established; what one waits for is solely sincerity.
Therefore it says 'Waiting, there is sincerity,' meaning that the essential nature of Waiting consists solely in sincerity. '
