Translation

Already Fulfilled, Li below Kan above.

Already Fulfilled: Success in small things. Benefit in Correctness. Good fortune at the beginning, disorder at the end.

疏 Kong Yingda's Subcommentary

Translation

The Correct Meaning states: 'Already Fulfilled: Success in small things. Benefit in Correctness. ' The myriad affairs are all fulfilled, hence it is named Already Fulfilled. Since the myriad affairs are all fulfilled, if the small things do not flow freely, then something remains unfulfilled.

' If even small things succeed, how much more so the great? Then great and small, firm and yielding, each occupies its proper position and all find their rightful place.

' However, people are generally unable to dwell in safety while thinking of danger, or to be as careful at the end as at the beginning. Therefore the warning is given for this present day.

At the beginning of Already Fulfilled, although all obtain good fortune, if one does not advance in virtue and cultivate one's undertakings through to the very end, then peril and disorder will reach one. '
