Major/Minor Limits & Annual Fate Analysis for Twelve Palaces
1. Fate Palace (Ming Gong)
When the Major Limit traverses the Fate Palace, it necessarily occurs during childhood. If auspicious stars share the palace but the Three Harmonies and Four Cardinals show malefics: the Annual Star entering the Fate Palace is called 'The Annual Star sitting atop one's head' — without auspicious stars, it becomes disaster. When the Minor Limit traverses the Fate Palace and the Three Harmonies show malefics with auspicious stars co-present, young children face the danger of early death. When the Minor Limit and Annual Star both guard the Fate Palace, the fortune judgment follows the same principle, but misfortune becomes more severe and good fortune becomes greater.
3. Spouse Palace (Fuqi Gong)
When the Major Limit reaches this palace with many auspicious stars illuminating from the Three Harmonies and Four Cardinals: great fortune. When the Minor Limit and Annual Star both arrive at this palace with auspicious illumination from all directions, it portends engagement or marriage that year; for the already married, it means spousal harmony. Conversely, if the Three Harmonies and Four Cardinals show many inauspicious stars, the unmarried will struggle to wed that year, and the married will experience a year of marital discord.
5. Wealth Palace (Caibo Gong)
When the Major Limit is in this palace with many auspicious stars illuminating from the Three Harmonies and Four Cardinals: ten years of prosperous wealth. If many malefics converge: financial losses or toil without reward. When the Minor Limit guards this palace with auspicious stars: one year of abundant wealth. With many malefics converging: financial damage or fruitless labor.
6. Illness Palace (Jie Gong)
When the Major Limit is in this palace with many auspicious stars illuminating: few disasters. With many malefics converging heavily: illness arises in the annual cycle, in severe cases becoming serious disease. When the Minor Limit traverses this palace with many auspicious stars: a peaceful year. However, those already ill face mounting danger. When both Major and Minor Limits arrive at this palace simultaneously: the judgment follows the same principle, but the seriously ill cannot escape death.
The Five Fierce Spirits
The Five Fierce Spirits that cause severe harm when repeated are: Celestial Wound (Tianshang), Celestial Envoy (Tianshi), Imperial Memorial (Zoushu), Direct Talisman (Zhifu), and General (Jiangjun). For example, a person born in a Yin year has the Imperial Memorial in the Hai palace and the General in the Wu palace. When the Minor Limit or Annual Star reaches that palace: besides the palace's inherent fortune, that year's outcome is amplified — auspicious stars make it even more fortunate, while inauspicious ones make it more dire.
Seven Killings Star Repeated Encounter
If the Fate Palace's Three Harmonies have Qisha (Seven Killings) guarding and illuminating, and the Annual Star falls in a Wu or Xu year: the Three Harmonies will inevitably encounter Qisha, and that year's progression reaches Yin palace entering Qisha. Without many auspicious stars to rescue: the Qisha effect is necessarily compounded. Furthermore, if Qisha illuminates the 'Birth Year Annual Star,' this is called 'Seven Killings Repeated Encounter.'
Ram and Spinning Top Escorting to Detriment
The verse says: 'Ram and Spinning Top escorting to detriment' — its harm is already poisonous. 'Bamboo Net escorting to detriment' means fate cannot escape: nine out of ten die, nothing holds firm. What is 'Ram and Spinning Top escorting to detriment'? For example, a person born in a Shen year with the Fate Palace placed in Mao or You, where Qingyang (Ram) also occupies Mao or You palace.
