經 Classic Text

剝坤下艮上 剝,不利有攸往。

Translation

Bo (Stripping). Kun below, Gen above.

Stripping. It is not beneficial to have a place to go.

疏 Kong Yingda's Subcommentary

正義曰:剝者,剝落也。今陰長變剛,剛陽剝落,故稱剝也。小人既長,故不利有攸往也。

Translation

The Correct Meaning states: Bo means stripping away and falling off. Now the yin grows and transforms the firm; the firm yang is stripped away and falls off, hence the name Bo (Stripping). Since the petty person has already grown in influence, it is not beneficial to have a place to go.
