Translation

Fu (Return). Zhen below, Kun above.

Return. Success. Going out and coming in without affliction. Companions come without blame. Turning back and returning to one's way, in seven days comes the return. It is beneficial to have somewhere to go.

疏 Kong Yingda's Subcommentary

Translation

' 'Going out and coming in without affliction' means that going out, the firm grows; coming in, the yang returns. It accords with its proper time, hence there is no affliction. 'Companions come without blame': companions refer to the yang.

When the many yang lines turn back and return, companions gather and come, and there is no blame. If the many yang lines did not come, there would be blame; because the many yang lines come, there is no blame.

'Turning back and returning to one's way, in seven days comes the return': this means that the turning back and returning must accord with the Way, and must not go too far. Only after seven days does the return come, which accords with the Way. '
