Hexagram Statement
卦辭
家人之義，各自脩一家之道，不能知家外他人之事也。統而論之，非元亨利君子之貞，故利女貞，其正在家內而巳。
The meaning of The Family is that each cultivates the Way of one's own household and cannot concern oneself with the affairs of other people outside the family.
Considered as a whole, this is not the Correctness of Sublime Beginning, Success, and Benefit for the noble person; therefore it says 'Benefit in the woman's Correctness'—the correct principle lies within the household and nothing more.
正義曰：家人者，卦名也。明家內之道，正一家之人，故謂之家人。利女貞者，既修家內之道，不能知家外他人之事。統而論之，非君子丈夫之正，故但言利女貞。
The Correct Meaning states: 'The Family' is the name of the hexagram. ' 'Benefit in the woman's Correctness' means that since it cultivates the Way within the household, it cannot concern itself with the affairs of others outside the family. '
