Translation

Kui (Opposition) — Dui below, Li above

Kui (Opposition): In small matters, good fortune.

疏 Kong Yingda's Subcommentary

Translation

The Correct Meaning states: Kui means divergence and opposition. When the dispositions of things are divergent and opposed, one cannot undertake great affairs. Great affairs refer to mobilizing labor and moving the masses — these require an era of great unity before they can be carried out.

Small affairs refer to food, drink, and clothing, which do not depend on the strength of the masses. '
