陰晴總論
妻財發動，八方咸仰則晴光。父母興隆，四海盡沾雨澤。以父母為雨，財動為晴。應乃太虛，逢空則晴雨難擬。世為天地萬物之體也，受剋則天變非常。日辰主一日之陰晴。若論風雲，全憑兄弟。要知雷電，但看官爻。
When the Wife-Wealth line activates, all eight directions look up to clear skies. When the Parent line flourishes, all four seas are bathed in rain. The Parent line governs rain; the Wealth line moving governs clear weather. The Response line represents the great void of the sky — when it meets emptiness, rain or shine is unpredictable. The World line is the body of heaven, earth, and all things — when it is overcome, the heavens undergo extraordinary change. The day stem-branch governs one day's cloudiness or clarity. For wind and clouds, rely entirely on the Sibling line. To know thunder and lightning, examine the Official line.

子孫為日之陽象，旺則晴。兄弟為風雲之交，以旺動衰靜論風雲大小濃淡。問順風逆風，但看兄弟：以子孫為順風，官鬼為逆風。五雷驅電蒸篆，鬼發離宮。坎巽互交，此日雪花飛六出。
The Offspring line is the yang symbol of the sun — when prosperous, it is sunny. The Sibling line represents wind and clouds — judge the intensity and density of wind and clouds by whether it is prosperous-and-moving or weak-and-still. To determine favorable or adverse winds: Offspring = favorable wind, Official-Ghost = adverse wind. Five thunders driving lightning with rising vapors — the Ghost activating in the Li palace. When Kan and Xun lines interact, that day snowflakes fly in their six-petaled form.
Method for Determining Timing of Weather Events
占期斷法
動逢合，靜而之神用日沖者開。作出俟神之用日應事。如用神靜如日逢空，神以透出逢合之日應。如用神動逢合，侯沖開之日應。伏藏之月出，作出俟之日應。
If the key line moves and meets combination, it is restrained — wait for the day that clashes it open. If the Useful Spirit is static, predict the event for the day its stem-branch value arrives. If the Useful Spirit is static and meets emptiness, predict for the day it exits the empty period or meets combination. If the Useful Spirit moves but is combined, wait for the clash day that breaks the combination. If the spirit is hidden, wait for the month or day it emerges.
